David Brown Cropmaster

I've been looking for a well priced Davey Brown Cropmaster for about a year and been to various auctions in England and Ireland. We need a good looking twin seat tractor to take me and my wife to the pub on when we are in Ireland. I came back nearly empty handed from the tractor auction at Malvern yesterday, I did manage to purchase five vintage tractor steering wheels to go into the girls play area.
I found out yesterday that the DB in Aston Martin comes from when Sir Davey Brown bought Aston Martin for 20.5k in 1947. So it's off to Cheffins auction in Bristol next weekend for a nose around.

Here's a a link to some video footage of a DB in action plus one on a the Ferguson tea 20 -

  1. very nice, but it is not a Farmall.... sorry Sam, I grew up driving a Farmall on the dairy farm and brand loyalty runs deep in the USA

  2. I like it.

But I do have to laugh, that the sole purpose of wanting a tractor, is to drive it to the pub! :)

Looking forward to watching FTW restore your bubble.

  3. I trust you've got all the children's books too... Like Frank I have different allegiances; Ferguson. So I have a slightly neglected diesel T20 in my barn. As to the pub, I walk the dogs there and try to persuade my wife to collect me. Good luck in your DB search.

  4. thanks chris,
not sure about the children's books, can you get DB ones?
to be honest the tractor is really only a pipe dream that might never happen, but it's good focus for me while I wait for the bubble to arrive and the auctions are full of fascinating bits and pieces. Last year I came back from one with the top of a helter skelter, a hoopla stall and a fairground horse. Harry Ferguson was a fellow countryman of mine so perhaps I should really be considering one of those
If I caved into getting a dog I sure my wife would happily pick me up any time anywhere in return.
I wish Jim at truly vintage trailers would hurry up at deliverin the bubble!
    cheers,
    sam.
btw, missed out on another one of those coffee machines on ebay yesterday.

  5. Hi Sam
The books are a series called 'Fifty the Tractor' - lovely books for little kids, ours loved them. Not sure if the DB tractor is a Cropmaster but its around that era. You've got the Airstream, so the dog must be next - we have two labs, Alfie & Rufus. Hope the Bubble gets to Frank soon - looking forward to some pix.
    Best from the West
